About the Board of Directors
The Directors of the Board are members first, and volunteers second. As a working Board (not a financially contributing board), board members pay their membership fees and contribute their time, thought and individual skills to BMCA’s mission and vision. The board aims to consider the breadth of members' voices, experiences, and perspectives as they work to uphold the value of the BMC® work (and its trademark), and look toward the future of BMC and BMCA.
Our Mission:
BMCA is an international, not-for-profit membership organization committed to the practice, continuing education, and ongoing development of Body-Mind Centering professional field, with a strong belief in the profound effects of its experiential and collaborative process.
Our mission includes:
● maintaining high standards of professional competence and excellence;
● supporting research and publication of materials relating to BMC®;
● providing resources, information and avenues of communication about BMC®;
● improving access to BMC®; and
● educating the public.
Function and Responsibilities
The BMCA Board of Directors oversees and sets the direction, structure, and policies of the association. Each member serves 3-year terms with a limit of two consecutive terms. Officers may extend their terms, with the approval of the board, on a yearly basis after completing their term limit. Two-thirds of the Board must be certified teachers or practitioners and the other one-third may come from the membership at large.
